Happy new year!

Ein fröhliches Neues an euch alle.

Was sagen eure Neujahrsvorsätze für 2012?

English readers, please, take note:
All texts on my LiveJournal account will be in English, while this Blog will mostly switch to German. This is due to my roleplaying groups being all German speaking groups. If you are still inetrested in reading about our Dr. Who Campaign, please, check out my LiveJournal account, where I will be uploading an english language novelization of it starting next month.

See you all in 2012!

Script Frenzy 2011

Oh, I know, I know... I've been quiet for a long time - but honestly? There just wasn't much to report.

Today, however I have decided that I'll be participating in Script Frenzy this April, and that is definitely worth a mentioning. :-)
I'm not sure yet what kind of script I'm going to write but since I do have an unfinished script idea for a movie as well as a theatre play lying around here, I'm sure it won't be much of a problem to come up with something. ;-)

Pumpkins and other things...

Now, it's official. My creative writing course appears on the university's homepage... I'm still pretty nervous about it, but I have been working on a course plan for the last two days, and I think it is coming along fine. The worst thing that could happen is that no students actually attends the class, or at least this is what I keep telling myself... :-)

We had a lot of rain over the last days (although nothing compared to what they had in Osnabrück), and unfortunately our tomatoes suffered greatly. Most plants have been snapped in at least one place, and I'm not sure how many will make it now. But on the other hand, my pumpkins are coming along great. When I bought that Hokkaido-pumpkin last year, I had no idea that it would be this easy to grow them...

Win 7 upgrades of hell...

Not so long ago one of those incredibly "helpful" sales assistants at Mediamarkt told me that no, it is not possible to directly upgrade from Windoofs Vista to Windoofs to the power of seven. Let me just tell you now that that was a complete lie. It is possible to upgrade directly from Vista to Win 7 - but it takes time... lots and lots of time... to be precise: about 3 hours (not including the one other hour, you'll need for calming your nerves in between) ;-)
In this case it was a deinstalled Avira AntiVir on a Lenovo ThinkPad X300 that nearly brought me down. Yes, the programm had been deinstalled two years ago. No, there were no files left, but yes, Windoofs could not upgrade because it was absolutely certain that Avira was still an installed program. After mucking about in the registry (and ruthlessly deleating all keys refering to Avira) the whole thing suddenly worked without problem. Go figure...

On another small note: It's as certain now, as it will be without me signing the contract. I am going to teach a Creative Writing class at the university next semester. So, I guess, I'll be working on a course plan next week. Luckily, I managed to talk to Mr. McLaughlin today (who's already been teaching these classes for years now) and he agreed to go through my course plan with me and see if he could offer some advice. That's certainly helping me a lot with dealing with my nervousness right now. :-)
